How to diagnose Thyroid Conditions
Thyroid is one of the most common
diseases and there are many people out there who don’t even know that they have
thyroid. There are people who are working hard to lose weight but are not
succeeding no matter how many miles they run.
Some people experience fatigue and
depression and think that maybe it’s just their nasty Boss. What I am trying to
say is that most of the times the symptoms (such as fatigue, depression, and
muscle aches,) that they experience are so similar to many other conditions and
diseases.
Women develop thyroid conditions more
often than men, the symptoms of which frequently appear during periods of
hormonal fluctuation (i.e., pregnancy, menopause) and thus easily overlooked.
Some of the thyroid conditions are
autoimmune in nature and frequently appear during stressful periods, such as
death of a spouse, divorce, etc. and the thyroid symptoms during these periods
may be said to be caused due to stress.
What to do when you think you have a Thyroid Problem:
If you are experiencing a few of the
symptoms above and believe that you have a thyroid problem, then here are a few
steps to follow:
- Gain more knowledge about thyroid disease. Take a look at these articles
to know more about thyroid disease.
- Go and meet a general practitioner who could tell you more about thyroid
and even suggest some basic thyroid tests. The general practitioner may even
recommend a good thyroid specialist.
- Understand The Diagnosis and Results -- Get your test results from your
doctor, and find out your doctor's interpretation and diagnosis.
